Aerospace company to move to Auburn

An Aerospace company is moving to Auburn and claims that it will be hiring many more employees once it has completed the move.  The Aerospace and Manufacturing facility is to make a move from Federal Way to Auburn, and may be bringing extra jobs along with it.

Orion Industries has announced that it has bought 6.5 acres of undeveloped land situated on 15th Street Northwest, which is bordered to the east by Auburn Airport and to the south by a Metro Park and Ride, and is intending on relocation there from its current site at Federal Way by November next year.

“Auburn is a key location for Orion for several reasons,” says the president and chief executive officer of Orion Industries, John Theisen.  “Importantly, it puts us in closer proximity to our largest manufacturing customer, Boeing Auburn, and positions us closer to a growing cluster of aerospace suppliers.  Notably, this location also increases accessibility to public transportation for staff and training program participants.”

225 people are currently employed by Orion Industries in Federal Way, in three separate facilities, but the company says it is expecting to increase its amount of staff members to 265 by the end of the 2013 fiscal year.  Orion Industries says that its manufacturing division has a diverse customer base in the aerospace, medical, marine and automotive industries, and that it expects a continued level of growth year-on-year. This is partly due to Boeing’s forecasts and a seven-year worldwide backlog of airplane orders.
