Boeing is shifting to a brand new officer complex situated close to the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and the US Army’s Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, as the firm consolidates a number of its sites in the area. The relocation to Redstone Gateway is a reflection of the company’s commitment to both the managing of costs and increasing its competiveness in order to allow for growth.
“As Boeing begins its 51st year in Alabama, this development agreement allows us to make the most of our facilities to best meet our business needs and those of our customers,” says the vice-president and site executive of Boeing Huntsville, Tony Jones. “Just as Huntsville is supportive of companies such as ours that are important contributors to the community, Boeing is committed to this city’s future health.”
Jones goes on to say that the plan has been validated by NASA, Redstone Arsenal and the City of Huntsville as being not only the best move for Boeing and its ability to meet its commitments to its customers but also for the city’s future economic viability, given that many of the company’s employees live and raise their families there.
The development agreement will provide 363,000 square feet of office space in a three building complex that will be named after Boeing. The company is set to begin occupancy of the first building in the spring of next year, with the second and third buildings expected to begin construction by the end of this year and be completed by the spring of 2014.
