Former Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has been confirmed in the lead role in the drama Your Voice in My Head, which begins shooting in November. The 23-year-old actress has had a relatively quiet year since completing work on the biblical epic Noah alongside Russell Crowe, Sir Anthony Hopkins and her Perks of Being a Wallflower co-star Logan Lerman, back in January.
Watson was originally attached to the drama back in 2011 alongside Harry Potter director David Yates at Warner Bros; however, when Yates dropped out of the project, so did Emma. Emily Blunt was then attached to the project for a brief time, before Your Voice in My Head entered development hell and Warner Bros eventually let go of the production altogether.
Now, however, Your Voice in My Head has gone down the route of the independent studio, with director Francesca Gregorini, who co-directed Tanner Hall, replacing David Yates. Benaroya Pictures is financially backing the adaptation of Emma Forrest’s memoirs, with the screenplay written by Forrest herself. The film follows a young woman who seems to have an ideal, party-filled life in the city of New York but then attempts suicide and finds herself in counseling with a psychiatrist who has major problems of his own.
Watson has been in cinemas in 2013 with The Bling Ring, which was directed by Sofia Coppola, and a cameo role as herself in the Seth Rogen comedy This Is The End. Noah is expected to open in cinemas in January 2014.
