Beckhoff Automation, a German provider of computer technology products such as automation software, intends to shift location. The company intends to move its headquarters in the United States from one suburb in the south metro to another.
Construction has already begun on the firm’s new office warehouse building at 13130 Dakota Avenue in Savage, which is situated around five miles southwest of the current headquarters in Burnsville, from which their relocation will take place. The new location offers 44,000 square feet of space, 18,000 of which is warehouse space and 26,000 of which is office space. Set to open in March next year, the limestone and glass curtain wall has ceilings that are no less than 26 feet high.
“Some work started in July,” says the chief business development officer for Anderson-KM Builders, Steven Faber. “We have a formal groundbreaking afternoon [on Wednesday], but it’s been under way for a while.” He noted that the entire project had been “a long time coming”. Anderson KM-Builders partner Greg Anderson had a relationship with Beckhoff and has for years been pursuing the US headquarters project, which was slowed by the recession, but now that things are “coming back, they decided to move forward.”
Anderson-KM Builders was founded just last year after the merger between KM Building Co and Anderson Builders. The company is now working on a number of different office and warehouse projects in areas such as Shakopee and Rogers.
