Who didn’t love the runaway holiday hit “Home Alone” back in 1990? The movie, starring Macaulay Culkin, Catherine O’Hara, and Daniel Stern, was directed by Chris Columbus and tells the story of a little boy who is accidentally left behind when his family leaves in a hurry for an international flight. The story moves through the days of little Kevin (Culkin), and his adventures.
The movie features Kevin’s house prominently throughout the story, as the boy defends it (and himself) from the West Bandits. The house, which has 5 bedrooms and 3 ½ bathrooms, is on the market for $2.4 million. It’s located right outside Chicago in Winnetka, Illinois. For anyone wanting to move to the Chicago area, this is a really good price!
Cynthia and John Abendshien, who lived in the house during the film’s shoot, are selling the home. They’ve lived there for more than 20 years but have decided to move on since their children are grown. The couple were reportedly allowed to keep quite a few of the movie’s props.
However, we have one disappointing bit of news for you – if you’re hoping to move in and play in the tree house out back, get ready to be disappointed – the film crew disassembled that when the shoot ended.
Because the house was essentially its own character in “Home Alone” almost everyone will recognize it. We bet the house’s fame will help the Abendshiens sell it even faster!
