Most influential people of 2011

Most influential people of 2011

Every year Time magazine publishes who the most influential individuals of the year are.  Typically there are 100 names to the list; many are celebrities, business moguls, scientists, writers, artists and political leaders.

These individuals have often made a huge impact on the nation as a whole.  This is why they tend to make it on the list.  One of the top names on this list was Rihanna.  Adele also made the list.  A couple of other celebrities on the list include Viola Davis, Tilda Swinton, Jessica Chastain, Claire Danes, Chelsea Handler and Kristin Wiig.  Male entertainers on the list include Stephen Colbert, Raphael Saadiq, Louis CK and Matt Lauer.  One could also include Tim Tebow and Jeremy Lin, though they were not within the top 100 according to the Times.

A few of the most talked about individuals on the list include Kate Middleton and Pippa Middleton.  One of the reasons these two have made the list is because many try to emulate how they dress, and also their athleticism.  Sarah Burton also made the list.  A few of those who made the list more than once include Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.  Surprisingly enough, Angelina Jolie did not make the list this year.  There were quite a few nominated that did not make the list, such as Lana Del Ray, Alec Baldwin, Zooey Deschanel, Daniel Craig, George Clooney and Ellen DeGeneres.  Still, the list has quite a few celebrity names on it that we recognize as making an impact on the world and the USA.
