Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day takes place every year in the United States on the second Sunday in May.  Everyone has a mother and there is rarely anyone more special in our lives.  That does not mean that fathers and grandfathers are not important, of course, but everyone knows that there is just something special about our mothers.

Mothers can often be taken for granted and yet there will never be anyone who is a stronger support mechanism for the great majority of us.  We can rarely do anything wrong in the eyes of our mothers, and when you are hurt of not feeling well we can always turn to our Mom for help and comfort.

So it is important to remember to celebrate Mother’s Day in style.  The first, most obvious and yet also most important thing we can do to celebrate Mother’s Day is to simply spend time with our mothers.  If that is simply not practical or possible, perhaps because you live overseas, then even something as simple as a telephone call can help to put a big smile on your mom’s face.  Cards, candy, flowers and gifts are also an important part of the day but spending time together is the most important thing anyone can do for their mum on Mother’s Day.

The very first Mother’s Day ever took place on the 10th of May in the year 1908 in Pennsylvania in the United States, although there have been many different celebrations of mothers and motherhood all over the world for centuries.
