Sarah Jessica Parker is moving on up – to the east side, the Upper East Side that is. She and her long-time hubby Matthew Broderick recently bought a spanking new pad in the neighborhood. Looks like they’ll be hiring a local moving company soon!
If you’re someone who follows the “Sex and the City” star, you know that she and her family have been long-time West Village fixtures. The place they’re moving away from isn’t too shabby at 4,000 square feet. But, they’re moving into an even more spacious place.
The property the Brodericks just bought sold for $18.9 million, down from the original asking price of $19.9 million when it first went on the market in 2009. The townhome has 6,800 square feet and four floors. In addition to all that space, they will soon enjoy a 24-hour high-tech security system and seven wood-burning fireplaces.
The townhouse itself is more than 165 years old, so there’s a lot of history there. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have all the modern amenities you can imagine. In fact, one of the most impressive yet perhaps weirdest features the home has is the capacity to have 250 phone lines. Currently, it has 11 phone lines. We’re not sure why anyone’s home might need that many number, but we hope they use them wisely.
Still wondering how the stars could afford to move into such a prime piece of Manhattan property? Parker just finished the latest installment of the “Sex and the City” movies (the sequel) while Broderick is slated to star in “Tower Heist” at the end of 2011.
