In order to make sure your move goes smoothly, here are some great packing tips you might not have thought of! Good luck with your relocation!
Make a List of Your Household Inventory
Before you start packing, it is a good idea to create a system for keeping records. This will help you keep track of all of your stuff. A spreadsheet and computer labels are usually a good start – or you can go the old-fashioned route and keep a handwritten notebook. Just remember to document all the things you put into a box and in which box.
Using a Number System
You should number all of your boxes and have them correspond with your inventory list. Start packing the things you need the least, and number your boxes in ascending order. This way, when you move into your new home, you know that you can unpack the boxes with the smallest numbers last.
Using a Color Code
In addition to numbering your boxes, use a color-coded system. You’ll assign each room a color and place a corresponding sticker on each box. For example, you choose red for the kitchen. All of the boxes with a red sticker should be unloaded from the moving truck into the kitchen. On moving day, you can post a color over the doorway of the corresponding room for even faster organization.
Have the Right Packing Supplies
Moving is hard enough, so why make it even more difficult by not having enough packing supplies? Get plenty of packing tape, packing paper, bubble wrap and boxes. You can get your boxes from local liquor stores or buy them from your favorite moving company.
