We hope you had a very happy and safe 4th of July! In honor of our nation’s birthday – and celebration of independence – many cities across the country hold parades. These events can be moving, entertaining, and a lot of fun for the whole family. But did you know that a recent study has declared that attending an Independence Day parade as a child can actually influence your political views in the future?
The study, published by the Kennedy School of Government (Harvard), claims that children exposed to the 4th of July events at an early age tend to grow up and vote Republican. Who had any idea that going to a parade would move your future in such a way?
So, if you are a Democrat, does that mean you should keep your kids away from the 4th of July parades? No, not necessarily. And we also don’t think you should move from one state to another, just because it is either red or blue.
This study obviously has quite a few critics. The 4th of July isn’t a Democratic or a Republican holiday – it is our country’s holiday. No matter what your political views, there is no denying that our country’s birthday is on the 4th of July.
So, no matter where you decide to move or what political party your kid decides to vote for in ten years, we hope you had a great 4th of July this past weekend!
