The Kardashian sisters have been barred from moving in to one of the most upmarket suburbs in the whole of Miami. The celebrity siblings, who have just recently made a move to Florida in order to film their new reality series Kourtney and Kim Take Miami – a spin-off from their popular Keeping Up With the Kardashians show – have been told that they are not welcome in the upper-class South Beach area, with local residents successfully blocking their application to buy three properties there.
US gossip website RadarOnline was told by a source that the siblings have been forced to instead move to a property consisting of 51,000 square feet within a North Miami Beach gated community, around 14 miles away from the locations where they film the series.
“The area is known for its hourly hotels, strip clubs and high crime rate,” the source claims. “It’s a far cry from their usual posh digs, with just a 7-Eleven and an abandoned old bank close by.”
A local law states that potential new residents need to receive signatures of approval from neighbors who live within 500 feet of the properties that they want to lease. The residents of South Beach, however, absolutely refused to allow the properties to be rented to the Kardashian sisters out of concern that the quiet area would become a circus as a result of the fans, film crew and paparazzi. The sisters’ move from Los Angeles is only temporary.
