Rambo comes to TV

Leading entertainment studio Entertainment One (eOne) has announced that it has entered into a co-development pact with Nu Image and Avi Lerner to develop and produce a brand new television series based upon the iconic action movie Rambo.  The exclusive option agreement will see the partners develop the series together and then shop it to television broadcasters both in the United States and all over the world.

The parties are also currently in negotiations with Sylvester Stallone, who played John Rambo in the movie series, to be involved on a creative level in the project and possibly even reprise the role.  The Rambo movie series is a cult classic of the action genre based upon the novel First Blood by David Morrell, with the lead character being a troubled former Green Beret and Vietnam vet who has skills in the art of guerrilla warfare, hand to hand combat, survival and weaponry.

“We’re thrilled to join forces with a renowned producer like Avi and the Nu Image team,” says the chief executive officer of Entertainment One Television, John Morayniss.  “The ability to fuse the big screen and the small screen through Avi’s feature film expertise and eOne’s domestic production capabilities and international distribution infrastructure makes for a highly complementary partnership.”

Morayniss went on to add that fans of the iconic Rambo character come from all demographics and that they have every confidence that a brand new television series featuring him would very quickly be able to find a home.
