No one ever really enjoys moving; however, rather than dreading the idea, you could try to see it as an opportunity to dispose of some of the possessions that you have never really wanted. Moving can be an excellent motivator to let go of some of the items that are cluttering up your home.
The reality is that the less stuff you have to move, the easier the relocation process will be. This is just one factor in making your move as green as you can, as there are plenty of other methods of ensuring that your move is easy on the environment. One good tip is to take stock of all your possessions before you start packing and decide what you want to take and what you are happy to get rid of. You should not wait until just before moving day to do this but should start as soon as possible.
Divide the items that you are assessing into three separate categories: stuff to donate, stuff to keep and stuff to sell. Electronic items and furniture can be put up for sale on Craigslist or a bulletin board in your local community, while any clothing that remains in good condition can be taken to a consignment store or resale shop, or even sold in a yard sale.
Try to reuse boxes that are still in good condition and wrap your fragile items in blankets, towels and T-shirts rather than going out and buying bubble wrap for the move.
