You love your pet, right? Sure you do! But, when you move with your pets, there are plenty of things to consider that you might not have even thought of.
Identification is Key
Like when you travel, it is absolutely essential that you ID your pet before you move. During relocation, there is an increased possibility that your pet might escape, run away, or become lost. With an ID tag or microchip, the likelihood of getting your pet back is greatly increased.
Whether you have a dog or cat, you need to have an easily readable identification tag. This also applies to birds (you simply attach a band on the bird’s ankle.) A good pet ID tag will always have the animal’s name and your contact information.
It is important to remember when you do ID your pet that you keep the information as up-to-date as possible. Make sure that you put your current information – home address, phone number, email, and name – in the ID information so that anyone who finds your pet can also find you. If you are moving, you might want to make sure you put your new address and phone number into the system a few days before you actually move.
When you travel with your pet on a plane, you may be required to provide additional paperwork. The airline may also provide you with special identification tags which your animal may be required to wear during the move.
