The United Way of Greater Augusta is to shift location to a brand new office. The office will move to Suites 106-112 in 124 Idlewood Boulevard in Fishersville in the first week of next month. The offices will have their services temporarily limited from Tuesday 30th October until Tuesday 6th November as a result of the relocation. Last year the staff and board of directors of the United Way of Greater Augusta decided after a great deal of research that accessibility and location was by far the organization’s most significant weakness. Recommendations were then made by a committee as to the requirements of any new office space, with particular focus and attention paid to such issues as budget, location and needs.
The change to a brand new office space location comes as a part of what is being described as a strategic plan for the purpose of being able to serve the community better, as well as to also meet the requirements and needs of the partners of the United Way of Greater Augusta. The new office location is ADA compliant and consists of 3,200 square feet of space. The new office will be able to provide meeting rooms which are also available to the community at large, bigger office space, plenty of parking, and a board room. The United Way of Greater Augusta will no longer pose any physical challenges to clients as a result of the new office space. The former office space was not particularly conducive to the needs of all members of the community, who may have been interested in going to the United Way of Greater Augusta because of the fact that the building itself was not accessible by the handicapped.
The United Way of Greater Augusta may employ only three people, but it also makes use of a volunteer labor force all year round. The brand new building means that the United Way of Greater Augusta now has much more in the way of space, including things such as a multi-purpose room in which volunteers can work, big groups can gather, and training can be undertaken. The board of directors of the United Way of Greater Augusta will also be able to congregate in the multi-purpose room instead of having to go to a different site for their meetings, as is currently the case.
“We are really excited about the move, as it will allow the United Way to continue its mission to improve the lives of people in our community,” says the United Way of Greater Augusta’s president of the board of directors, Kevin Hall. The United Way of Greater Augusta is set to stage a Holiday Open House on Wednesday 12th December. The event will run from 4pm until 6pm and will serve to introduce the community to the organization’s brand new office space.
