As of 19th April, The Barking Cow Pub & Eatery has shut down at West Raleigh’s Lake Boone Shopping Center; however, the operator of another local restaurant has stepped into the breach with the announcement that it intends to open up the fifth Village Deli & Grill in the Triangle during the summer.
Tim King, the owner of Village Deli, has purchased the remaining lease assignment for the 3,500-square foot space of The Barking Cow, which is situated in the shopping center at 2500 Wycliffe Road. This is according to John Koonce from York Properties of Raleigh, which is responsible for the management and leasing for the Lake Boone Shopping Center.
Koonce had also revealed that Randy’s Pizza will be making a move into the space that was previously the Bear Rock Foods restaurant in the same shopping center in May. Randy’s Pizza is perhaps best known for its pizza by the slice and New York-style menu, and has five other outlets situated in the Triangle.
Village Deli has already begun to renovate the space in which the Barking Cow had been in operation, Koonce notes, and says that they are planning to put in more windows and close in the patio before they fully move in. The Village Deli group has been operating for 17 years now, since 1996, when its very first location opened at Cameron Village in Raleigh. Since then, it has opened a number of other locations close to the Southern Business Park, as well as The Factory on Wake Forest’s South Main Street.
