Have you ever thought that the water is always bluer somewhere else? If you love boating, there is absolutely no reason you shouldn’t move to an area that is ideal for your favorite pastime. There are plenty of boating communities throughout the United States and we’ve put together a list of some of the best places to live and boat. So, before you relocate, you may want to consider these cities.
Tampa, Florida
Florida is the Sunshine State. So, moving there would make sense if you love the great outdoors and boating. The cities of Tampa and St. Petersburg straddle the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay making them ideal for families who love to boat. The bay actually has over 100 tributaries – perfect for access to the ocean, fishing, and boating galore.
Seattle, Washington
Seattle is one of the best places to live for those who love to be outside and boating. Despite the grey weather you always hear about, Seattle has hundreds upon hundreds of miles of salt water and a coast surrounded by scenic beauty. Islands full of forests mixed with urban scenery make Seattle a great place to move for boating enthusiasts.
Finger Lakes, New York
The name alone indicates that Finger Lakes, New York would be an ideal place to move for boating. Of course, you’ll find that the summer is more appropriate for boating than other seasons, but residents love to cruise along the winding Canandaigua and Cayuga Lakes. In total, there are about 11 lakes for residents and vacationers to enjoy.
Benton County, Arkansas
When it comes to moving to a place you can enjoy boating, Arkansas may not be at the top of your list. But, it should be! Benton County is a well-kept little secret in the Ozark Mountains with over 30,000 acres of water suitable for boating. The lakes are smooth and clear – perfect for a day out on the water, especially Beaver Lake with more than 90 miles of beautiful scenery.
Knoxville, Tennessee
Knoxville, Tennessee is another surprising destination to move for boaters, though we’re not sure why. Some of the largest boat manufacturers are based here including MasterCraft, Skier’s Choice, and Sea Ray. The Tennessee River is at the heart of many homes in this city, making it a great place to move for boating!
Though there are plenty more cities and regions throughout the country that are ideal for boating, these five places could be great if you want to relocate. As long as you do your research before you relocate and learn how to safely move your boat, you are sure to find the ideal place for you and your family. In fact, if you are looking for a second home, these locations are wonderful choices for vacationing as well.
