Your lease might be up at your current apartment or home. If this is the case and you want to leave Spring Valley, Nevada you might want to put your items in storage for a couple of months.
Whenever you want to leave your old city or state it is always best to get used to the new location first before hauling everything to the new location. What happens if you decide you do not like the new place? What if you cannot afford where you wish to be and suddenly have to go back to where you have a support system? It is definitely more expensive to haul all of your items to a new location before you have become accustomed to it.
You might also have found a cheap place to rent online for a few months, only to find out that it is definitely not in a good area. Before leaving yourself open to a permanent change and putting your items in storage, walk around different neighborhoods to find the one that is going to be suitable and safe. Acclimatizing to your new surroundings is always a good idea before you hire the moving company to get you to a new location.
Of course, you might not have a chance to take things slowly and may need to hire the moving company right away. If the move is related to a new job, the military, or for other important reasons, you might not have a say in your destination. In this case it is probably best to start comparing the different companies. You will have to acclimatize to the new city or state once you have arrived and moved everything there. It would help to have a short lease rather than something for eight or twelve months just in case you find you do not like the area. When you are rushed you may not have the time to look at the property you have chosen. If the move will be a more permanent one you can always find a cheap place to rent on a short- term lease, and then find something to buy in a neighborhood you do like.
There are a lot of things you can do to get used to a new place. You can walk around to meet the neighbors, find your favorite stores, and get to know some of the restaurants. If you do this you might just find your comfort zone.
If you have kids it is definitely a good idea to take one day each weekend to take them around. They will start to get used to the different places and slowly become accustomed to their new home. When you have the time take longer trips, such as weekend trips, to other parts of the new state so that they can get used to what else might be in the new place outside of their usual boundaries. This can make for a more comfortable time.
