Halle Berry has put wedding plans on the backburner while she tries to sort out her moving plans. The Cloud Atlas star is to marry actor Olivier Martinez, but prior to this taking place she wants to move from the United States to France for the benefit of Nahla, her four year old daughter.
Berry told InStyle magazine: “I’m not sure where I am going to be living in the next few months, so I have to get that settled first.” Berry says that the primary reason for relocation to France is to protect her daughter from media scrutiny because of “the appeal of privacy and a greater sense of safety for Nahla. Because we are followed all the time, she is starting to feel like she is somehow special, and of course she is, but I want her to understand that she’s special because of who she is, not because she was born into this celebrity blender.”
The 46-year-old actress says that the process of moving has taken a lot longer than would normally be the case due to the bitter custody battle for Nahla that has been playing out in court against Gabriel Aubry, the child’s father.
The twice-divorced actress – from Eric Benet and David Justice – says that the turbulence surrounding the move and her daughter will pass and that when she finally does marry Martinez, she wants it to be a small and intimate affair.
