Eleventh hour moving tips

Eleventh hour moving tips

Moving is never exactly what anybody would call great fun.  Moving involves packing absolutely everything that you own, cleaning the property you are vacating, loading a box truck, unloading a box truck, cleaning your new property and unpacking absolutely everything that you own; it is hardly surprising that moving house is generally listed up there with bereavement, divorce and job loss in the list of the most stressful events of our lives.

While the use of a moving company can certainly make life a lot easier, there is still no getting away from the fact that packing has to be done.  The good news, however, is that there are some things you can do to cut down on your stress level.  The most important of these is not to leave everything until the last minute, which is a sure-fire recipe for disaster.  Make sure that you plan until you cannot plan any more.  Make sure everything is labeled – and labeled correctly – and that you have organized all of your boxes.

For the real hardcore packing procrastinator, however, there are still a few last minute packing tips that you can follow.  One is to sort your stuff into three different categories: stuff you want to keep, stuff you can throw away, and stuff that might be worth donating.  Ensure that you know who you will donate the latter pile to, and how you will get it there.

Another good tip is to make certain that your boxes do not weigh more than 75 pounds if you intend to use a moving company, It could help save time in the long run.
