Finding a Good Mover

Finding a Good Mover

So, you’re about to move and need a mover.  How do you actually find a good moving company?  In order to find the right mover for your relocation, be sure to follow along with our carefully thought out “to do” list.

  1. Get a Quote.  Never, ever choose a moving company without getting a quote in writing from at least three different movers.  And remember, the estimate should be based on an actual inspection of your home and not done over the phone.
  2. Double Check the Moving valuation.  It doesn’t matter if you are moving across the city or across the country; you need to make sure that your moving company of choice has sufficient valuation and is properly licensed.  Check for the U.S. DOT number, which will be issued by the FMCSA.  You can also check out moving companies on several websites.
  3. Think about Your Priorities.    If you hire a mover based solely on price you may be losing time and money.  Think about what is really important about your relocation.  Do you want to get your possessions moved and delivered on time or do you want to pay the least about of money?
  4. Do Your Research.  Never choose a moving company without researching it first.  Learn about what your rights are when relocating and also look into the rules and regulations for moving across state lines if that applies to you.
