Moving a business is hard work. One of the biggest challenges people face in an office move is moving the copier. With so many parts, trays, and fragile hinges, it can be a moving minefield. Gather Supplies

Half the battle in any move is gathering the correct supplies. BMS Moving & Storage provides high quality moving supplies to make it easy on our customers. For moving your copier, you will need the following:

  • Thick bubble wrap
  • Several sheets of cardboard
  • Furniture dolly
  • Heavy-duty packing tape

Remove and Wrap All Accessories

You want to remove everything that could possible shift, move, or bend. The most common moving parts you will want to remove is the paper tray, paper feeder, cords, or any other accessories or doors on the outside. Wrap each individual piece with at least three inches of thick bubble wrap.

Wrap Your Cords

Wrap your power cords, USB cords, or any other copier cords in a layer of cardboard. This will prevent them from accidentally being torn or crimped during the course of your move.

Wrap Your Copier

Begin wrapping the copier itself with bubble wrap. Start at the top and work your way down until it is completely protected with the thick bubble wrap. Secure the top of the copier down with several pieces of your heavy-duty packing tape. This will prevent the top from flying up during transport and breaking off. Place cardboard pieces along the sides of the copier and tape it directly onto the bubble wrap. The cardboard will act like a protective shell during transport. This method will give it plenty of protection if it is bumped around during your move.

One More Layer

Secure the cardboard with a full layer of tape or shrink wrap and tape your cords to the back of the copier. You will thank yourself later when everything is all together once you arrive at the new office.

Move Your Copier

Once your copier is all wrapped up and ready to go, you will load your copier onto the moving truck. If your copier is small, you may not need to utilize the furniture dolly. However, if you have a large copier it is recommended that you use a dolly to safely load the copier. Don’t forget to secure it with straps during transport!
