The first thing you need to before you try to move a washing machine is make sure that all cords have been disconnected. This should usually be done at least three days prior to the day of the move.
You need to unplug the power source, wrap the cord and secure it with some tape. The water supply then needs to be turned off, as do the water shutoff valves. Use a bowl or towel to collect any water that may be left in the water hose. To make the weight of the washing machine the lowest it can be, take away any internal moisture with the use of an absorbent towel and allow the interior to completely dry by leaving the door open for a day or two.
Protect the washing machine from scratches during relocation by using moving blankets. An upright dolly is the best option to move the machine, with help from friends.
