When you are making an international move there are a few things that you need to take into consideration. You are probably going to be moving to a completely new place where you have not lived before, or at last not for any length of time, and it is important that you find out everything you can about the area.
Perhaps you could spend a bit of time there before deciding on the move and do a little research into things such as work opportunities. Moving abroad is a big commitment and you need to be sure that it is the right thing to do.
Find out whether it is possible for you to ship your own things abroad or whether it would be better to buy new things there, specifically with regard to furniture. It may be more cost effective for you to ship personal items, such as your clothes, books and CDs, as you will need a smaller container. Talk to a moving company about the various options that you have when it comes to shipping your possessions. Most offer container shipping, depending upon where you are going, but if you are simply hopping across a nearby border then you may be able to use a moving truck.
You also need to make sure that you comply with any immigration regulations when you move abroad. Make sure that you have the right visas in place – you don’t want to move only to find out that you do not have permission to work there.
