If your company is moving from one office to another you are likely to find some people advising you to buy cardboard boxes for your packing and others advising you to rent plastic crates instead. This could leave you a little confused about what the best option is; however, the truth is that there are advantages to both types of container – you just need to decide which is the best option for your situation.
Plastic crates are strong and can be used many times without becoming less robust. This is why many companies rent plastic crates out and the user does not have to worry about what to do with them after the move has been completed. Items are less likely to be damaged as a result of being transported because the plastic offers more protection during the house move process. Another advantage is that you do not have to put plastic crates together – they are already assembled and there is no need for tape. Finally, some professional office movers use styles of crates that have dollies specifically designed for their plastic crates.
Cardboard boxes are a good idea if you have a budget to stick to, and if you buy them there is no need to worry about unpacking quickly so that you can get them back to the moving company from which you rented. Cardboard boxes are perfect for lighter items and when you need to get rid of them they can be recycled or passed on to somebody else who can use them. The downside is that cardboard boxes are not as strong as plastic crates and you therefore need to be careful what you put in them. If the office staff is going to be responsible for packing their own desks this can cause a problem. However, if you’re going to be storing large amounts of paper files cardboard is the way to go.
If you are unsure which option will be best for you, ask your moving company for advice. Professional movers will be able to quickly assess your requirements.
