Love Shoes? Get a Mansion

A former New York City shoe store is now a multi-million dollar mansion, so if you love shoes, this might be the perfect place for you to move into!  We’re even wondering if shoe fanatics designed this newly renovated building.

The building is located in the fashionable neighborhood of Tribeca in Manhattan.  The mansion is listed for about $45 million and was originally built back in 1882.  The site was originally the home of the A.J. Bates department store and later it became a shoe warehouse.  Now it is an expansive mansion waiting for the perfect ‘shoe-holic’ to move in.

When we say mansion, we don’t mean just one family needs to move in.  The building has been designed to consist of several different units.  The top couple of floors are actually a triplex apartment.  The third floor is actually two separate apartments.  So, on these few floors, several families can actually move in.

Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, there’s also an underground basketball court and a private gym.  Sources haven’t confirmed whether or not anyone has even taken a bite at the bait and put any offers down on the mansion, but we can’t wait to find out who might make a move.  Perhaps Kate Spade, Jimmy Choo, or Christian Louboutin?

If you’re wondering who was behind the whole design of this expansive home, we can tell you it was architect Mario Rivelli.  An interesting fact about the renovation was that they actually had to remove the roof of the building in order to make the sixth floor.
