Every year we get the chance to celebrate the life of one of the most influential figures in the civil rights movement. The Martin Luther King Jr Parade 2015 is due to take place on January 19th in New York and this is an event that you will not want to miss.
Martin Luther King Jr brought about changes in the world with his stance on equality, peace and justice, and we can celebrate his life with a parade. The parade is an annual event and people from all over the city come to take part. The event is always held on the third Monday in January and you can catch the parade from 61st Street to 86th Street, taking in Fifth Avenue along the way. The parade has been held since 1986 and anyone attending will see brightly colored floats, a variety of bands and live music, a group of marchers who have come from far and wide to take part, and many street vendors.
To watch the parade will cost you absolutely nothing and there is something for people of all ages. It doesn’t stop there, as after the parade has finished there are a host of other events taking place. These events are all created to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King and are held at a variety of locations across the city. This celebration is something that everybody should go along to at least once.
