The great majority of people tend to think that the summer is the best time for moving house, presumably because the weather is usually decent, the kids are off school, and getting time off work is routine. The reality, however, is that making a move in the spring actually makes a lot more sense because summer is the ‘high season’ for the moving industry.
One of the main benefits of relocation in the spring is financial. The summer months are almost always booked up, which means that professional movers have a tendency to offer much lower rates at other times of the year. Gas prices are also normally higher during the summer, all of which means that a move in the spring is likely to end up costing you a lot less than one in the summer.
There will also be a lot more dates available for your move in the spring. Getting the moving company to work around your own schedule rather than you having to squeeze your relocation into theirs has got to be a better way of doing things. Regardless of when you decide to move, however, it is important to remember that you should still book as soon as you can. Booking well in advance can sometimes score you an even lower rate.
People in general can also be a lot more helpful in spring than summer, simply due to the fact that they are less likely to be in a bad mood because of the heat.
