A lot of moving checklists assume that you are going to have several months in which to plan your relocation; however, the reality is that sometimes life does not give us the time we might want and you have to make a move at a considerably faster pace.
There are some things that need to be taken care of if you have to move in a hurry. Before you start to panic, the first thing that you should do when you know a move is imminent is to call at least two moving companies, make sure that they are available on the day you intend to move, and get quotes. Keep calling until you can find at least two moving companies that will be available on your moving day.
You should get your packing materials organized quickly. Boxes can be rented for the duration of the move and it would probably also be a good idea to get a number of portable wardrobes for some of your more delicate items. Having bubble wrap and packing paper delivered with these containers will save time and speed the process up quite considerably.
If you have items that you want to sell, list them online. Most sites leave listings up for a week and you will then need to leave some time for someone to come and pick up the item you are selling, which might take a couple more days to arrange.
