Organizing a military move

If you are part of a military family and have just found out that you are moving on again, it is time for you to get organized.

The first thing you need to do is to sort out your belongings. It is amazing how much stuff someone can accumulate, even in a short period of time, and if you want to get rid of things now is the time to do it. Why not hold a garage sale and get rid of what you no longer want?

This is a good opportunity to create a PCS binder. This will hold all your important documents and papers for the move so that you can keep them in one place and access them whenever you need them. This binder will be invaluable as you go through the moving process, so make sure you keep it up to date.

When it comes to packing for your military move, why not make use of zip-top bags for items that you keep in your junk drawer? This is only after you have got rid of the real junk, however. The bags are ideal for keeping things clean and they can simply be emptied into their drawer at the other end.

If you have children, you will find that you have hundreds of toys and games that you need to move. Why not opt for plastic bins that can be fastened or covered? This makes it easier to move and, again, easier to unpack when you get to your new military home.
