Packing and moving a couch

Packing and moving a couch

Packing all of your possessions ready for a move is a serious business, given that there could be catastrophic repercussions if it is done incorrectly.  Even the packing of items of leather furniture needs to be done with the right knowledge and set of skills in order to be properly achieved.

If you do not have much in the way of physical strength then it would be a very bad idea for you to try to lift heavy weights.  The great majority of the accidents that occur during a move are the result of people trying to lift items that are just too heavy for them to carry.  Unless you want to risk doing serious damage to your back, you need to hire a moving company.

It is more difficult than you might think to prepare a couch for relocation – the couch obviously can’t simply be put in a box and sealed with some packing peanuts.  You need to be sure that you are working with materials that are adequate for the task they are going to be doing and make certain that the couch is given the maximum possible amount of protection.  If you do not protect your couch sufficiently, you could end up with a deformed frame and damaged upholstery.

Materials that you will need in order to pack and move a couch include durable couch covers, paper pads, shrink-wrap, packing tape, packing blankets, micro-foam and scissors.  You will be able to start the packing process only when all these materials have been gathered together.
