A historic city or town may be the perfect place to retire.
If you are thinking about relocating now that you have hit retirement age, you will have to decide the best place to go. You might want to move to a smaller home in the same city, but if you want a new adventure consider one of the historic places you could retire to.
St. Augustine is one of the oldest cities in the USA and Florida. It was occupied by many Europeans, including the Spanish, for many years throughout the 18th century. There are places such as Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas to enjoy.
Charleston South Carolina is another popular city to retire in. It is warm, occasionally very hot in summer, and a place for Civil War buffs. Charleston has a southern charm that constantly makes it a hit among USA residents. The city offers seaside, 36 national landmarks, 42 museums, and all of this is within 30 miles. Additionally, one can drive to Myrtle Beach for a little fun away from home.
Savannah, Georgia is another older city with plenty of national landmarks. Among the other ten are Santa Fe, New Mexico; San Francisco, California; and New Orleans. San Francisco is home to Alcatraz Island, cable cars and the Park Historic District, among 18 national landmarks. Any of these cities could offer plenty of entertainment for retirees, along with plenty of exercise such as golfing, beachcombing and more.
