Former Doctor Who star Billie Piper and her actor husband Lawrence Fox are intending to leave the United Kingdom for Los Angeles in 2013. The actress and former teenage pop star, who bore the couple’s second son, Eugene Pip, in April this year, has hinted at plans for relocation to the US in a recent interview.
“There’s not much work in the UK, that’s why everyone’s moving to America,” Piper commented. Fox has since confirmed that he and his wife intend to move to Los Angeles and rent a house there in order to begin auditioning for Hollywood roles, with the shift being planned to occur as soon as the pair of them conclude their respective stints onstage in London’s West End.
Fox is keeping a realistic head on his shoulders, however, wryly noting to the Evening Standard: “We could go there and not get a job and they could say “You suck” and we come home. Who knows what’s going to actually happen?”
Piper is currently starring in The Effect at the National Theatre, which runs until January, while Fox is appearing in the play Old Boys in the West End. Piper shot to fame as a teen pop star in the late 1990s, before switching to acting and becoming a big success as Rose Tyler in the revived series of Doctor Who in 2005-2006 opposite Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. Piper and Fox married in 2007 and have another child, three-year-old Winston.
