But, when you are getting ready to relocate, chances are you may want to get rid of some of the extra stuff you’ve accumulated over the years. Sometimes, it isn’t a good idea to simply throw things away – recycling is an ideal solution.
Recycling Cars and Other Vehicles
Did you know that you can recycle vehicles? This is a great solution if you are moving and don’t want to take unusable cars, trucks, jet skis, and other vehicles with you. Remember, these vehicles have metal that can be recycled as well as some other components. Many facilities will actually pick up the vehicle for you.
Getting Rid of Tires
Just like your car, your tires don’t have to be thrown away. Don’t move with old rubber tires – recycle them! In most cases, car dealerships and tire retailers will accept old tires when you buy new ones. Tires are often included in shoe soles, doormats, and hoses.
Recycling Fire Extinguishers
You may be able to take your fire extinguisher with you when you move, as long as it has been serviced recently. But, in other cases, you may just need to recycle it. Dry-chemical fire extinguishers may be placed with your other metal recyclables – just be sure to release the pressure. Carbon dioxide extinguishers are actually refillable after each use.
Reuse Old Furniture
A relocation is the perfect time to get rid of old unwanted furniture, however that’s not an excuse to neglect the environment. There are plenty of reputable charity organizations that would happily reuse your old office furniture or provide it to a family in need. And, there is a Free section on Craigslist that will give someone the ability to claim your furniture curbside before it ends up in a landfill. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
