The easiest way to make sure that you get through moving day in one piece is to put together a survival kit or box of essentials, which is your ‘go to’ box on the day of the move for anything you think you might need. Ideally you should move this box yourself rather than hand it over to the moving company to deal with. What should you put in this box?
You are going to need bed linen and towels on the day, along with essential toiletries. This means that you can at least take a shower and fall into a properly made-up bed. Make sure that every member of the family has a change of clothes so that they can start the next day in clean attire.
There are some items you might not think you will need, such as a flashlight. Surely the electricity will be on? It might well be, but a flashlight is always going to be helpful if you have to go into basements or attics. Add to this section of your essentials kit a pair of scissors and a utility knife and you will be ready for a number of basic tasks.
Remember that your house move will be easier to deal with if you can have a cup of coffee when you get there, so include a kettle, mugs and everything that you need to make a drink. Your moving company professionals will also appreciate this.
