Tips for moving an office

It is an enormous task to move an office, but forward planning can make the experience a good deal smoother and assist you to get your new office operational as soon as possible.  The good news is that by following a number of simple tips you will be able to create a schedule to ensure that you stay on track and keep downtime before, during and after your relocation to an absolute minimum.

Before the relocation you should make sure that you ask questions in order to be able to accurately assess your present situation, your assets, and the things that you are going to need for your upcoming move.  You should make an appointment with your moving company and/or moving scheduler to finalize the schedule of the move. It is also a good idea to form a supervisory team to assist with delegation and implementation. 

You will need to finalize a floor plan for your brand new office and assign placard colors or labels, as well as department numbers, so that these can be provided to your moving company.  Communication packets need to be prepared for members of staff, providing the relocation schedule as well as instructions for the shredding and purging of documents that are no longer required by your company. You should make the time to schedule a move orientation for staff members so that they can become familiar with everything that is taking place and the responsibilities they have during the process.
