As we enter 2012, many business owners are thinking about what the New Year will bring. Should they move their business? Should they stay put? It really depends on what is good for your company. But, if you do decide to move your business, here are some things you should keep in mind.
Make Donations
If you have a stash of old phones, printers, computers, copiers, and office furniture, now is the time to donate it. If you no longer need or want these items, why spend the time and money relocating them? Go ahead and get a tax break!
Start Packing Early
Don’t wait until the last minute to start packing – that can make the entire relocation process a real nightmare. Start packing up things you don’t use on a regular basis. If you have a large inventory of items, start packing a couple of weeks in advance.
If You’re Hiring a Moving Company
If you are hiring a moving company, get started on your search early. You’ll want to have a couple in mind and get several estimates before you sign on the dotted line. If the movers will also be doing your packing, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared.
Share Your New Info Right Away
When moving your business, you will want to have as little disruption as possible. That’s why it is so important to share your new contact information with your clients, customers, vendors and service providers well in advance.
