Military families get used to moving every few years, but sometimes they may wonder exactly what they are moving to. Obviously some bases are considered to be better than others and here are a few that have been rated highly by military families that have stayed there.
The first is the US Marine Corps base Camp Pendleton in California. This is close to San Clemente and around 8,000 people live on base here. It is close to Oceanside in San Diego County and most of the homes around here are designed as single-family homes.
Next up is Fort Knox, the US Army base in Kentucky. It is estimated that there are around 11,000 people living in military housing here and the property off base is still relatively inexpensive when compared to other military areas.
Ellsworth AFB is in Rapid City, South Dakota. Average house prices off base are also fairly low and many people are attracted to the area by the low crime rate. With plenty to do in the region when off base, such as theaters, museums and restaurants, families will find this a great destination. The area also boasts national parks and a good standard of living.
Finally, you could consider Fort Drum in New York for your military move. The base has a population of more than 13,000 and the surrounding areas are great for those who love outdoor life.
