You may not think so, but it is actually possible to buy a decent home to move into for less than $10,000. And no, we’re not pulling your leg!
Did you ever imagine that it would be possible to own a house for less than the purchase price of most cars? Well, about 50 years ago, that might have been the norm – but then again, cars back then cost something like $500 or $1,000. We sure do live in different times, don’t we?
According to a recent report conducted in Time Magazine, there has been a spike in homes priced at less than $10,000. And, these homes are actually move-in ready in most cases. The statistics from this study tell us that, in Baltimore, at least one out of every ten homes sold during the first half of this year were under $10,000.
The same can be said for Detroit, though that town has a high rate of foreclosures and forced relocations, unfortunately. But, if you feel like moving to Detroit, or its surrounding suburbs, you are likely to hit on a listing for $10,000 or less. There are about 1,000 homes in that price range right now.
While most of these homes are ready for you to move in, they certainly aren’t glamorous. We suggest a house under $10,000 as an investment or a good starter home that you won’t mind working on for a bit. However, you don’t have to worry about abandoning considerations like appearance, size, and location. Why not check them out!
