Before You Move

Before You Move

No matter how many times you have moved in your life, the process of relocation can get a little overwhelming.  In order to help you get a handle on all of the things you’ll need to think about, organize and implement, we’ve made a handy little guide.  Read through these steps to get a better idea of what you’ll need to do.  And remember, it isn’t as bad as it seems!

Get Your Family Involved

Most people move because they have a new job or are starting another career.  Many times, the decision to relocate doesn’t seem like a choice – many businesses transfer employees or offer better opportunities elsewhere.  So, for the rest of your family, they may feel forced into moving.  Tell them right away and include the entire family – even the kids – in all of the moving decisions.

Do the Research

If you aren’t familiar with where you are moving, it pays to do a little research.  Find out which neighborhoods are best for your family.  Look into the schools.  Learn which areas to avoid.

How Will You Move?

Will you hire a moving company or do it yourself?  A lot depends on your budget, how much time you have, and whether you actually have anyone to help with the move in the first place.  If you do decide to hire a moving company, do your homework and pick a good one!
