It seems that some stars just can’t stay out of the news, but that isn’t something you think about when you hear Dennis Quaid’s name. The actor leads a relatively quiet life with his wife and kids, but has made headlines recently. Why?
Dennis Quaid is getting ready to sue the sellers of his Austin lakefront estate. Apparently, the mansion he and his family moved into earlier this year has extensive problems with rats, water intrusion, and unpermitted remodeling. Of course, the sellers disagree.
Right off the bat, we’re reminded that just because we pay a lot of money to move into a big house, it doesn’t mean that house is going to be in livable condition.
The lawsuit claims that the sellers misrepresented the quality of the work done to the home. Quaid and his wife are asking for their money back as well as additional funds to cover damages and legal fees.
Apparently Quaid, his wife and the kids have been forced to move out of the house and into a nearby rental since the condition of the home is so bad. The couple relocated to the Austin area to be closer to Quaid’s mother, who is living in an area retirement home.
Though it is not known exactly how much Quaid paid for the home, it had to have cost a pretty penny. The house was built in 1970 and was last listed for $12 million. The 11,103 square foot home has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a pool, an outdoor fireplace, a wine room, and 100 feet of lakefront.
