Do You Know the Way to San Jose?

Do You Know the Way to San Jose?

You can sing the question to the melody of the song written by Burt Bacharach and sung by Dionne Warwick, Do You Know the Way to San Jose? But, we’re betting that if you are a millionaire, you don’t really even need to ask.

Apparently, there are tons of millionaires that move to San Jose every year. In fact, the city, which has a metropolitan population of almost 2 million, has over 50,000 millionaire households. The concentration of millionaires is just over 8%, which is pretty impressive for any city. What’s even more striking is that the number of households with investable assets of $5 million or more is over 7,000.

But don’t worry, if you are getting ready to move to San Jose and aren’t a millionaire, you aren’t alone! The median household income is actually a little over $85,000.  That tells us there’s actually a pretty diverse population as far as income and wealth go. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t see the money in town.

San Jose is a beautiful city with gleaming skyscrapers and palm-lined streets. After all, it is home to Silicon Valley, so you know that plenty of the people who have moved here in recent years work in the technology industry, which is booming. In fact, San Jose is known as the capital of American Tech.

The top employers in town, not surprisingly, are Apple, Microsoft and Intel. Some of the most popular cities of the San Jose area include Santa Clara and Sunnyvale, which many families move to instead of San Jose proper.
