If you ever travel, you know that things can be pretty hectic. This is especially true if you travel internationally a lot for work. What if you arrive and you can’t find the hotel? What if you don’t speak the language?
This can be especially true if you are traveling to Hong Kong for the first time. Going to any country where you most likely don’t speak the native tongue or know your way around can be a little nerve-wracking, even for the most seasoned of travelers. Once your flight lands, the only thing you will probably want to think about is getting to your hotel with top-notch rooms and cutting edge amenities. So, how do you get to your hotel from Hong Kong airport easily?
Here are some quick and easy tips for getting around Hong Kong when you arrive. So, whether you are traveling there for work or pleasure, or getting ready to relocate to Hong Kong, keep these suggestions in mind.
Remember, your journey to Hong Kong hasn’t ended once the plane touches down. The last leg of your trip is usually getting from the airport to the hotel (and then any traveling you do locally in the interim). Check out these tips – some convenient, some more economical, and decide which are the best for you.
Comfortable and Convenient Travel
The most convenient way to get to your top-notch hotel room is to hire a limo to pick you up and take you. This can be booked in advance, and is fast, and easy. However, if you are traveling on a budget, this might not be your best bet as it can be pricey.
Great Convenience
Hong Kong has a lot of taxis, and they aren’t as expensive as hiring a limo. Though many hotels provide a car service, check out the Hong Kong cab service. The taxis in town are color-coded – blue taxis go to Cantau Island, green go to the new territories, and red will go through most of Hong Kong. Wherever you go in a tax, you’ll need to know the address!
Avoid Traffic
If you don’t have the money for a limo or taxi, the train is a great alternative. Regardless of traffic, using the Airport Express train will get you into Hong Kong in about 23 minutes. The trains run about every 12 minutes and are a great way to get around. The train is affordable, but you do need to know where to get off!
Take the Scenic Route
If you aren’t pressed for time and want to get a good look at your surroundings, use the ferry. It’s economical, but pretty slow. Also, the ferry isn’t very convenient for traveling from the airport, as you do need to take a taxi or bus to the pier.
Budget Friendly Option
A lot of people in Hong Kong use the bus. It’s quick, and very economical. However, it will take some time to find the right bus and you’ll need to know where to get off, just like with the train. Depending on where your hotel is, you may need to do several transfers.
