Removal trucks were spotted on Thursday outside the Bel Air Mansion shared by Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes whilst they were married. The moving company was apparently taking her belongings to a storage unit in an undisclosed location.
It is just the latest indication that the former Dawson’s Creek star is ready to move on with her life after her surprise split with the Hollywood superstar. In June Holmes lodged legal papers citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, and applying for both sole legal custody as well as primary residential custody of the couple’s six-year-old daughter Suri. Last month the pair released a joint statement saying: “We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.”
Holmes and her daughter have now relocated to a new apartment in Chelsea in New York. The very plush building on Seventh Avenue has valet service, a concierge service, a fitness center and onsite Whole Foods. There is also a playroom for children, meaning that Suri is likely to be able to make some new friends whilst living there.
A number of other celebrities also live in the building in question, including designer Marc Jacobs and singer Lance Bass.
