National Cheeseburger Day takes place on 18th September in the United States each year. The food industry has long made a point of having celebrations for various different kinds of food, so why should the cheeseburger not have its own special day all to itself? There is no reason at all!
National Cheeseburger Day is as easy to celebrate – simply fire up the grill and start cooking cheeseburgers. Cheeseburgers can be eaten on this day for either lunch or dinner (or even for both, just this once, if you so please). There is no set kind of cheese designated for use on a cheeseburger, so any variety will do. You might even wish to try a different sort of cheese just this once if you are feeling particularly adventurous on this special day. The carbohydrate conscious might want to eat their burger without the buns, though!
Anyone wanting to celebrate National Cheeseburger Day in the time honored fashion but who does not really feel like cooking themselves should check out the luncheon and dinner specials at their local restaurants, as it is all but guaranteed that at least some of them will feature the cheeseburger!
National Cheeseburger Day is not an official holiday of any kind, and there is little information available as to its origins or to who may have created it. There are a few references to it once being sponsored by the American Dairy Association, which may or may not even be true.
