Moving requires a lot of planning and details. If you move from Tampa, for example, to a colder area, you might need to get rid of some of your clothing in order to buy new and warmer clothing for your new destination. Part of moving is changing your address for all of the bills and other mailings you might receive.
Many of us have already gone completely electronic with our bills. This means that you might not have a lot of mail coming to you under your name, but this mail still needs to be changed. After all, you do not want your identity to be stolen because you have forgotten to change your address.
Anything that you need to get rid of also needs to be trashed correctly. You do not need to keep bank statements for more than three years if they are personal, and seven years if they are business related. This means that you need to shred any paperwork that has your address, full name, telephone number, social security number, and any other information that could be used for your identity.
You also need to make certain that you monitor your identity information, such as going online to get your free credit reports each year. This will make certain that nothing untoward has been kept regarding your relocation. Always secure your information during the relocation too, in the event that someone might see it as it is being hauled to and from your old and new places.
