If you loved the “Kill Bill” movies and “Pulp Fiction” keep reading – we’ve just learned that movie director Quentin Tarantino is suing his neighbor! The neighbors he is suing aren’t the average Jones’ either – it’s screenwriter and producer Alan Ball (of “American Beauty” and “Six Feet Under” fame). Sometimes such lawsuits between neighbors cause one party to simply pack up and move away.
However, in this case it doesn’t look like either party is planning on relocating. Tarantino claims that “blood-curdling screams” come from the Ball household at all hours of the day – due primarily to the outdoor aviary Ball has to house his collection of exotic birds. Tarantino’s case states that the birdcalls have prevented him from working as a writer in his own home.
That’s the irony of the situation – Ball is an Academy Award-winning screenwriter! But it looks like, at least to Tarantino’s camp, that Ball has done nothing to remedy the situation. At a point prior to the lawsuit filing, Tarantino did attempt to work out the issue with Ball and was reportedly told that the birds would be moved indoors until a soundproof aviary could be constructed.
In early 2010, the aviary was built and is supposedly soundproof. However, Tarantino has complained that the sounds became even worse once the birds relocated. So, what is Tarantino suing for? A permanent injunction for noise abatement as well as all legal fees. Maybe they’ll write a movie about this!
