Moving your company can cost quite a bit of money and if you don’t do it right, you could even end up losing money or clients! In order to avoid that, we’ve put together some tips on how you can reduce the cost of your next office move.
Interpreting the Quotes
It’s never a good idea to just go with the moving company that has given you the lowest quote. There are plenty of movers out there that will just low-ball their quotes and will simply provide less-than-stellar service. It is these “rogue” movers that will also slap a bunch of extra fees onto your bill at the last minute. You’ll want to go with the moving company that gives you the most honest estimate, not necessarily the lowest.
Lighten Your Load
Moving companies often charge by the weight of your shipment, not always the distance. So, before you pack up the office, get rid of things you won’t need to move to the new location. Do you have a bunch of old computers that no one uses? Why not donate them or send them to a recycling center? It’s always a good idea to get rid of what you aren’t using rather than pay for it to be relocated.
Meet with the Movers
There is nothing wrong with meeting the movers before moving day. This way, you get a good idea of who will be handling your business’ stuff and how efficient they are. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or even request to pop in and observe them move another office.
