Tips for Moving Your Car

Tips for Moving Your Car

Sure, you could move your car yourself, but think about the time, energy, and frustration you’ll save if you hire a professional company to do it for you. This is especially true if you are moving cross-country or overseas. The type of moving service you select will determine how much you wish to spend, so we’ve put together some tips to help you move your car as successfully as possible with a moving company.

Research the Company

It is not highly advised to hire a car shipping company (or moving company for that matter) without doing your homework. Research is key; whether you’re moving your belongings, storing them, or shipping a car. Look up the company on the Better Business Bureau and do a few searches online for any customer complaints.

How it all Works

Shipping your car is actually very simple. Most moving companies will give you an estimated date and time of when they can pick up your car and when the delivery will take place. Usually, it is a three to five day window for delivery and the company will usually store the car for you if the dates don’t work.  Depending on the time of year, your vehicle may go on the same truck as your household items, however it is quite unlikely, especially during the busy summer months.

Cost

The cost of the shipment will depend on how far your car is going, when it needs to be picked up and delivered, and the type of vehicle you’ve got, among a few other factors. It is important to research at least three to five different moving companies and to obtain a quote from each before making your decision. Some companies may require a down payment while others do not.
