If you are making a military move there will be a multitude of things that you will have to do in the months, weeks and days leading up to the big day, but what do you need to do on the day itself? There are a number of factors that need to be taken into consideration on the day of your military move, and there are a few tip to help you get through it.
One good tip is to make sure that you get up early on military moving day so that you will be ready to get going when the movers arrive. You should make sure that there are no dirty clothes lying around the house, or even in hampers, and no dirty dishes in the sink. All trash should be removed from your residence.
Your military moving day is likely to be one very long day for you and the people from the moving company, so it is important to have plenty of cold drinks, coffee and snacks available for anyone who wants or needs refreshments. Jewelry should not be shipped by your movers but taken by you along with other valuable items such as cash, your checkbook, and important personal documents.
If your move is being taken care of by the military then make sure you get hold of a copy of the Household Goods Inventory, the GBL and the DD-619 (if CONUS), and make certain that the inventory is a true reflection of the condition of the property and that all of your possessions have been listed.
